DR NICO HERFORTH

Nico Herforth brings 12+ years’ of experience in designing and conducting project, program or thematic evaluations and applied research. Nico applies different methods and designs in his evaluations, such as quasi-experimental designs for impact evaluations, mixed-methods or theory-based approaches. His sectoral expertise includes agriculture and rural development, value chains, food security & nutrition and cash-based transfers.

He has previously worked with the German Institute for Development Evaluation (DEval), GIZ, International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT), governments, NGOs, civil society and the private sector. Nico has ample experience in engaging with stakeholders throughout the evaluation cycle, in disseminating credible evaluation findings and actionable recommendations in various formats, tailored to the needs of clients and evaluation users.

Nico holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of Goettingen (Germany). His country work experience spans Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Ghana, India, Jordan,
Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, Uganda and Vietnam.
