MELANIE HAMMOND

Social Research and Communications Expert- Peru

Melanie brings over fifteen years of experience in the field of Sustainable and Human Development. She has proven expertise in the management of social development projects, social research, strategic communication design and overall production of communication resources. Her research and data collection experience span different topics such as sustainable rural development, socio-environmental issues, social practices related to agricultural development, risk management, protected natural areas, sustainable rural community tourism, regular basic education in rural areas, sexual and reproductive health, intercultural education, children’s rights, and disabilities.  Her work experience in Peru is enriched by a wide scope of levels of intervention, from community-level, land planning, local governments, and public sectors to private endeavours. She has extensive experience working with Andean peasant communities, amazon indigenous organizations, agricultural producer´s organizations and cooperatives and community forest surveillance and monitoring.  Since 2009, she has been a faculty member at the Communications Department at the University of Lima, Peru.
