Inclusive Education Specialist

Sophia D'Angelo is an Inclusive Education Specialist with over 12 years of experience working in development and humanitarian sectors. She specializes in equity-driven evaluations that examine how the intersection of socioeconomic status, geography, gender, disability, and displacement shape teaching and learning. As a qualitative researcher, Sophia enjoys using participatory and arts-based methods, facilitating localized approaches to policy, project, or programmatic decision-making. Dr. D’Angelo is skilled in mobilizing and engaging diverse actors and supporting multisectoral collaboration. She has worked with various development partners including the World Bank, GPE, USAID, INEE, Save the Children, Chemonics, and Sesame Workshop International. She has published academic journal articles, reports, policy briefs, guidance notes, and background papers. A former teacher and teacher trainer, Sophia’s expertise spans diverse topics including teacher education and training, curriculum development, foundational skills for early learners and youth, educational technology, and student or teacher wellbeing. She holds a PhD and MPhil from the University of Cambridge's REAL Centre, and a BA from Princeton University.
