Evaluation and Learning Consultant - Health, Nutrition & Food security

Charlotte Lane is an accomplished mixed-methods researcher with over ten years of experience in international development and seven years of experience in evaluation and learning. She has over 15 peer-reviewed publications and 35 working papers and policy briefs to her name. Charlotte has supported eight impact evaluations and seven evidence synthesis and aggregation projects. Her research spans topics from fiscal policies to support a healthy diet globally to health insurance in Togo and nutrition-sensitive agriculture in Tanzania.   

Through her small business -Home (foodsecurityevidence.com), Charlotte uses the most rigorous possible methods to answer decision-relevant questions in the fields of international development, food security, nutrition, and related sectors. She takes a practical approach to research, balancing rigour with real-world information constraints. Charlotte has worked with clients and stakeholders ranging from the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation, World Visions and the Danish Refugee Council to USAID and GIZ. Charlotte has a PhD in Nutritional Epidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she studied the effect of maternal HIV on infant growth, and a B.A. in Human Evolutionary Biology from Harvard.
